What do you buy for a couple that is celebrating their golden anniversary this year? Golden anniversary means married for 50 years. It's hard to imagine that in this time and age. Some people don't even lived past 50 not to mentioned married for that long.
Bits's parents are both approaching 80 and both hale and hearty like great grand aunt. I aspire to that. I have also been invited to their wedding anniversary celebration. Originally we wanted to go Ghung but since it doesn't do lunch in weekends, we are doing modern turkish instead.
The immediate thought was to get them gold cause it is a gold anniversary..duh. Unfortunately gold is way beyond my budget. I ask him what is he getting for his mum. He said flowers...(roll eyes) and fine brandy for the dad (double roll eyes). Is it just me seeing what is wrong with the equation? Maybe just me. Since he is giving his dad alcohol, I can't do the same. So I ask if his dad need anything, he go blank. Obviously Mama's boy. Had a bit of chat (like a business requirement session) and understood his dad takes his BBQ seriously. A connoisseur of BBQ. Hence I got he below set. Bits gave thumbs up!
For the mum, not so straight forward. After looking at advs, I settled for pearl which coincidentally the mum doesn't have. Not sure if she doesn't like it or just no one has ever bought her any. SO fingers crossed.
Looking forward to modern Turkish !
